Hebraic Teacher Spotlight – Jim Staley

At the moment I do not attend any formal church services, whether it is a regular Sunday church service or a Messianic Service on the Sabbath. I don’t attend mostly because I do not have a way there. So I decided to look for people on the internet I could follow and learn from. Several people have asked me who I listen to when it comes to the Hebraic roots. Today, I will tell you about one of my current teachers on the internet.

Passion for Truth

I watch a church called Passion for Truth. The pastor is Jim Staley and the church is located in St. Charles, MO. He has a YouTube account that lists several teaching videos. He also list more recent teachings on PodOmatic. PodOmatic is where I found out about him. Through these set of teachings I became more intrigued by him and found his website.

On the website there is a weekly broadcast service that starts at 5:00 pm (EST) every Sabbath (Saturday). It usually lasts about two hours. The service lasts about two hours. Sometimes, it goes a little longer. Afterwards, (after the camera is turned off) they have a fellowship dinner. The first half of the broadcast is spent on praise and worship, announcements, reading the Shema and prayer for the children. The second half is spent teaching the Word of God.

Why I Like Jim Staley

  • He explains things very well.
  • He uses the many scriptures to make his point.
  • He doesn’t build a whole doctrine off of just one scripture.
  • He explains what is going on in the Old Testament and how Yeshua fits into things.
  • He explains the New Testament by explaining the Old Testament. He shows how they are interrelated.
  • Sometimes, he uses notes when teaching, which very helpful for me.
  • I enjoy how he runs the church service.

Is He Always Right?

Do I agree with everything he says? Of course not. Is it because I think he got it wrong? I’m not sure. Maybe I just don’t understand that portion of teaching and need to study further before I can. I have learned to put things on a shelf until I can learn more.

The reason I say this is because when I was younger I heard a teaching that I just thought was totally wrong. However, when I got older I allowed the Holy Spirit to teach me more and when I did I learned that the teaching was correct. I just didn’t understand enough. So now I just ask the Holy Spirit to open up my understanding and confirm whether something is right or wrong.

Today, I ask that you do the same. Listen to the video below. He has many teaching, but I found this video especially interesting. It talks about who the Jews are really as well as the house of Israel. I think everyone should listen to this video. It will answer a lot of questions Christians have, even if they think they know the answers.

What Do You Think?

When you are finished let me know what you think. Do you agree or disagree with his findings? Will you study more to see if he is even telling the truth? How do you feel about the information he presented?

Prayer Time

Our Heavenly Father, who is in heaven,
Help to find shepherds after your heart and teachers who teach your ways in a manner that is pleasing to you. Open our ears to hear the Spirit is saying.
In Yeshua the Messiah’s name, Amen.

  1. WOW!… that’s a LOT to chew on… but I appreciated the history and opening up of the Scriptures by tying them together with what Paul was teaching, and realizing that he WOULD have only had the Torah, the Old Covenant Scriptures, because he hadn’t been thrown into prison and written the ‘letters to the churches’ of Ephesus/ Galatia/ Phillipi and etc… it’s something that for the first time, i want to be a ‘faithful berean’ and go back to ‘search the Scriptures to see is ‘ what has been taught is true.

Thank you for making this available. The precious Holy Spirit reminded me that I was pulled to Israel clear back in 1984 and so strong that I HAD to make a trip. When I go to Jerusalem, even with all the sounds, signts and smells, I felt I had ‘come home’ and DID NOT WANT TO COME BACK TO THE U.S. I actually had the culture shock when I came back to the STATES!

    1. You’re welcome. I would love to go to Israel. I bet you felt great there. Just remember to keep studying for yourself. Question everything and ask God for any answers you want. After all, He knows everything. 🙂

  2. JGIG’s “review” is nothing more than a hit piece designed to paint Jim Staley as a racist who teaches bloodline salvation. She completely ignores the part where Jim says “I’m not saying you get saved by your genetics” and insists that’s what he really means. In short, she calls him a liar, a false teacher, and a heretic for daring to offer a different perspective on Scripture.

    1. Thank you for responding to JGIG’s review. I am glad you took the time to read it. Sometimes, people need to see what others are thinking and saying so they can study for themselves to flesh out the truth. Other times, people are so bent on being right that no one else can possibly be right. In either case we are responsible for how we see or don’t see a thing. I’m glad you’re studying for yourself. Be blessed.

    1. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the video and sharing your link. I read your reply. I’m sorry it took me so long to comment. I haven’t been around a lot lately. I posted your comment because I believe everyone has the right to their opinion. Also, it will cause people to study for themselves. In the interest of others who might be reading this post, here is a link to the forum in which the above comment originated: http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?p=2944560#post2944560. Personally, I enjoyed the video. I am studying it for myself to see if I come away with the same conclusion Jim did. Maybe knowing the difference between Jews, Hebrews, Israel, Christians, and Gentiles doesn’t matter to you, but it does to me. This video gave me a jump start to my studying. Hopefully, it will do the same for others.
