Purge Me with Hyssop

There are times in our lives when we need to cry out like David did in Psalm 51. David realized he had done a grave thing in the sight of God. He prays to him for forgiveness and restoration. But the verse that stuck out at me was the beginning of verse 7, “Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean.”

I study herbs and their medicinal purposes. This is why I was curious about hyssop being used. I found out that hyssop was used in purification rituals to cleanse the unclean. It was only one of the items used.

We might not perform purification rituals anymore, but using hyssop to cleanse your body from the inside out is still being done today.

Hyssop tea can be used for colds, flu, nervous stomachs, indigestion, sore throats, sagging skin, wrinkles, cramps, muscle spasms, and respiratory problems. It can even lower blood pressure by flushing out toxins such as excess fats, water, and sodium.

Hyssop essential oil can relieve tension and stress. Combine it with a carrier oil and you can relieve viral infections, hay fever, eczema and circulatory problems.

My Experience with Hyssop

I normally use Hyssop to loosen mucus in my respiratory system when I have breathing problems due to a cold. Or in my case, when I eat too many mucus forming foods and I know I shouldn’t. Please pray for me. J

Hyssop’s Precautions

Precautions: Do not use for periods longer than a few weeks. Usage should also be avoided during pregnancy.

Please do not take any herbs without doing proper research. Herbs can be used like medicines and too much of anything is a bad thing. If you are taking any medications, please consult your doctor.

Prayer Time

Our Heavenly Father, who is in heaven,
Teach us to use your herbs in a proper way to bring healing to our bodies and mind.
In Yeshua the Messiah’s name, Amen.

    1. Thank you for your resource. Hopefully, it will help someone. I personally haven’t been able to read it yet, but I do plan on it. Once again, thanks.

Other factors that have been associated with muscle cramps include exercising in extreme heat. The belief is that muscle cramps are more common during exercise in the heat because sweat contains fluids as well as electrolyte (salt, potassium, magnesium and calcium). When these nutrients fall to certain levels, the incidence of muscle spasms increases. Because athletes are more likely to get cramps in the preseason, near the end of (or the night after) intense or prolonged exercise, some feel that a lack of conditioning results in cramps.

  2. Thank you for this information. I know that when ingesting herbs, it is a good practice to allow the body to rest from whatever it is that is being put into our bodies. I am not sure whether one should skip a day or two from all supplements, but I know that it does no harm. Lee RN.

    1. You’re welcome and thank you for the added information. I take herbs a lot, but mostly in tea form or extract. If I am doing a lot of herbal pills, I will take a day off, mostly because I need a break from swallowing that many pills. lol
