The Hebraic Roots Movement Teaches False Doctrine!

For a lot of Christians the Hebrew Roots Movement teaches false doctrine. It teaches us to return to the bondage of the Law of Moses. It teaches us to keep the Sabbath, which puts us further into bondage. It teaches us to follow Judaism and leave Jesus Christ alone. Also, it teaches us the mysteries of Kabbalah.

I admit the Hebrew Roots Movement does teach the above things. However, it depends on the teacher you select to sit under and what information you receive. It’s no different than studying under a teacher who teaches different doctrines in Christianity.

Is There a Pure Religion?

Recently, I had a conversation with a lady who studies as a Jehovah Witness. We had a long conversation about why Jehovah’s Witnesses was a pure religion which practiced the great commandment of Jesus, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35)

“Well, then I definitely don’t believe Jehovah’s Witnesses is a pure religion because receiving love by them has not been my experience,” I told her, along with some personal examples of what happened.

She was in disbelief by what I said. So her husband tried to explain that just because some people acted like that doesn’t mean the whole religion is bad. I told him he proved my point. You see, they had been trying to tell me that only Jehovah’s Witnesses was the true and pure religion while everyone else was defiled based on how they acted – not in love.

While I was trying to tell them, for me, there was no pure religion because there were always problems within religion because every religion consisted of people. However, I do believe the Father, who is in heaven, has many disciples all over the world in various situations and in various religions (those with the basic belief Jesus Christ is the Messiah and have accepted him as such in their lives).

All Religions Teach False Doctrine

Personally, I have studied more religions than most people would even dare to think about. So when I make my comments they are mostly based on experience. Therefore, I can say with confidence there is false doctrine being taught in the Hebrew Roots Movement, just like there is in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and the rest of the religions around the world.

I say this for two reasons. The first reason is because the scriptures told us it was going to happen. These are just a few verses speaking about false prophets, teachers, and apostles.

“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)

“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 4)

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” (Matthew 24:11 KJV)

The second is because human beings are the ones teaching the principles of their beliefs. And being human means being open to the temptation of fame, glory, and power. A lot of people have found that being a religious leader affords them plenty of benefits so they start churches without God’s consent to receive those benefits. To be honest, it’s not always easy to spot these types of leaders because they are charismatic and helpful.

Sometimes, even those who received God’s approval end up falling away from the truth because of the money that came along later in their ministry. They found out with money comes power, fame, and glory. Everyone wants to know them and be like them. People seek them out for their advice. Eventually, they realize if they preach a certain way, it’ll keep them in the lime light and before they realize what’s happened they are teaching false doctrine.

Testimonials of False Doctrine

I have read many testimonies to how people have come to the “light” and now realize how a particular religion teaches lies. Below are just a few examples. The first one involves myself.

When I was a teenager a friend of mine used to take me to church with her. We learned about the Bible together and she was a strong believer in my teenage mind. She was always trying to teach me something about Jesus and the Bible.

When I spoke to her as an adult I was surprised to find out she left Christianity. When I questioned her as to why, she replied, “I went to Egypt one summer. I learned a lot about my black heritage. Jesus is a white man’s god and has nothing to do with me. White man taught us about Jesus to keep us in mental slavery because they knew they wouldn’t be able to keep us in physical slavery.”

She continued to tell me all she had learned to which all I could reply, “Wow!” I tried to explain why her thinking was wrong, but she had found the truth. For her Christianity didn’t only teach false doctrines, it was completely wrong and shouldn’t be followed under any circumstances.

For everyone who feels like her, there is at least one person who feels the total opposite when it comes to Christianity.

Another testimony involves a woman I read about on the internet. Her testimony speaks of going from one doctrine to another taught by deceptive teachers. Her last move brought her to the Hebrew Roots Movement. Unfortunately, she had a false teacher and now believes the whole movement is wrong.

She is no different than anyone else who has been led astray by false teachers. There will always be false teachers in every area of life. Their goal is to build followers who cater to them and not to God Almighty.

Studying is Our Burden

It is our job to weave through the truth and the lies. It is our job to evaluate whether someone is teaching false doctrine or not. This is why we are told to “rightly divide the word of truth.” The burden of being diligent to be approved by God is on us, not the teachers.

Maybe we need to be more like David, who said, “I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.” (Psalm 119:99 KJV) David mediated on what God had done for him, for his family, for Israel, and for the world. His thoughts were wrapped up in God and his word. This is all Psalms talks about – God and his word. I believe Psalm 119 sums it up best. Read it. Then read it again in another translation to see what David was saying.

Please understand my heart. Every religion is considered false by someone. It doesn’t matter what you believe. There will always be someone to tell you that you are wrong. The scriptures tell us to be fully persuaded in what we believe.

Every teacher out there is not a false teacher. We are all learning. There will be times when you will not agree with your teacher. That doesn’t make him false. It just means you two have learned something different about the subject. So if there is something you don’t understand then ask the Holy Spirit to teach you the truth of the matter. He will because it is his job to lead you into all truth concerning Jesus Christ.

In the meanwhile, the scriptures tell us to follow after righteousness and holiness. Therefore, follow Yeshua (the living word of Yahweh) and his commandments.

Next time, we’ll talk about identifying false messengers. Until then, “You must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:11-17).

Be blessed and grow in understanding.

Prayer Time

Our Heavenly Father, who is in heaven,
Help us to follow you and your ways only, growing in understanding. Teach us to walk in the spirit and the truth.
In Yeshua the Messiah’s name, Amen.

  1. Beware of _____________ from ______________. They are 100% Hebrew Roots heretics who claim to ‘love and care about the Body of Christ’ but are doing their level best to subvert them away from Christianity. These people are ACTORS and false teachers, nothing more.

They do their level best to convince/deceive Christians who study the word of God for themselves under the instruction of The Holy Spirit into thinking they DON’T know the true meaning of the real gospel and are hell bound. They teach the old laws the ‘Jewish way’ instead of teaching the new laws Christ’s way.

They have a form of Godliness but deny the power thereof through man made Jewish traditions. They seem more like a cult. To listen to some of their followers it’s obvious they have been brainwashed and deceived through this couple’s false gospel. He’s even convinced the women to walk around with their head covered.

In First Corinthians Paul was saying it was a shame for a woman to wear her hair short (not walk around with hair uncovered) instead of wearing it long because God gave her HAIR to her for a covering. He also stated it’s a shame for a man to have long hair instead of short hair. ________________ has twisted this verse and many others, yet condemns Christians for following the true gospel and claiming we don’t know the word of God and we need to follow The Torah, when it is he who takes scripture completely out of context to follow Jewish traditions of men.

_____________ seems to DESPISE Christians and definitely speaks as if we’re all idiots who don’t know the gospel and need to replace the teachings of Christ with HIS FALSE teachings. He is quick tempered and quick to label anyone who corrects and calls him out on his false teachings a prideful Jezebel. He also tries to use guilt and make people feel sorry for him when they correct him. It’s all for filthy lucre’s sake. These people have no shame!

    1. Forgive me for taking so long to answer your comment. I needed a moment to process what you were saying and the best way to reply. So here it goes. I removed names for a couple of reasons. One reason is that I don’t know these people personally, nor do I follow their ministry; therefore, I can’t agree or disagree with you concerning your accusation. The other reason is that the scriptures tell us that if we have something against our brethren then we need to go to them first. If they don’t listen, then you bring a witness and so forth. I don’t know if you’ve done any of that. So I removed their names so I can’t be accused of slander.

With that said, my answer is a little long for a comment so I am writing a post on it. Please refer to the post that’s coming out on December 28, 2017.

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
14 And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure

  3. Hello Dawn, I’ve read a couple of your blog posts and I’ve got to say, you’ve got an incredible way of tackling these issues. You don’t single out one group but expose the truth or error in all of them. You’re very gentle too. I’ve got to work on that myself. I’ve been reading from other sites and I’m surprised to see how many people are against Hebrew Roots. They talk about some strange beliefs that we have but honestly, I don’t know what they’re talking about. Maybe they got hooked up with a strange bunch of people. I’m not a part of any congregation at the moment – I just read my bible – all of it, not just the Torah, and do what it says. Pretty simple. 🙂 Blessings and Shalom – carol

    1. Thank you Carol. You don’t know how much your comment means to me. I try to be as honest as possible. I only want people to take a honest look at what they believe and why they believe it. I want people to stop bashing each other and show some love. Love covers a multitude of sins. I don’t have a physical congregation I associate with either, but I do watch a few people online and talk to others about the Bible. I’m glad you liked the articles. You be blessed also and Shalom. – Dawn

  4. well these over 300 hundred new bibles are not God’s word… They are “another interpretation” not translations… They DO change doctrine. The NIV is almost identical to the new world translations…. God does not change.. He chose the words he used because they are the best words until he returns.. We can not translate better now than God did already. bible just means ‘book’ We are re-writing Gods Holy Scriprues. I had a pastor tell me he can find the truth in any bible…. but almost every church has gone astray because of these new interpretations…. Seems like none of them can see the lies in them…. odd!!!!
There was as many false religions in the bible days as there is now…. We have really taken a left turn…. I hear people saying that Jesus did not come to die on the cross for our sins…. he came to make us ‘Christ Conscience’ … Baptist, all the religions have either reformed, changed their beliefs and even their doctrine…. It is scarry….
I could talk about this so much more…. it is just mind boggling to me…..so sad !!!

    1. I understand your frustration, but you have to realize that Bible versions are just translations. There are bound to be mistakes and while some translations deliberately mistranslated or took out or added to, not all of them do this. There were some very sincere people trying to translate the best they knew how so more people could come to know the true Messiah and the Creator of the universe. I personally am not happy with some of the newer versions of the Bible so I just stay away from them and read what I feel is right for me.
