In a previous article, Three Day Emergency Kit, I gave a list of some items that would be helpful to you, but today I am providing a more comprehensive list. You can print this list down and check off the items you already have. This way you can track what else you need. Make this list work for you. Carry it with you when you go to the store. If you see something on the list on sale or if you are trying to buy something and can’t remember what you already have, you can just pull out this list. Once you’ve bought it, check it off.
If more than one person in the family is buying preparation items, then assign groups of items to each person buying. For example, one person is in charge of medical supplies and medicines. Another person is in charge of food. Start with what is most important and get those things first, until you have everything you need on your list.
Deluxe “96” Hour Kit
Why prepare for 4 days instead of 3 days like everyone else says? Because it generally takes rescue workers 3-4 days to get to you. Now wouldn’t you rather have an extra day of food and water and not need it? The items listed below are the essentials your family should have to help you make it through 4 days of being on your own. I think this is a very good list.
Once you have everything you need for 4 days, don’t stop there. Continue to work on being able to survive a week. The longer you can survive on your own, the better you and your family will be.
