Worship in the Splendor of Holiness

Normally, when we think of worshipping God it involves a lot of singing. It doesn’t matter if the singer is in sin or practicing an alternative lifestyle or hurting other people. What matters is that they can sing.

“Worship YHWH in the splendor of holiness.” – 1 Chronicles 16:29

However, that’s not what this scripture says. It correlates worshipping God to holiness. Being in an active state of doing what God wants us to do, living according to His ways, and helping others is being in a state of worship. It also points to a holy God who cares for us and those around us.

Let’s start focusing on and doing what the scriptures says, instead of what tradition has taught us.

We Worship You YHWH in the Splendor of Holiness – 1 Chronicles 16:29

Father, Abba, this is the type of worship You expect – to be worshipped in spirit and in truth. You expect whatever I do for You be done with all of me being in total agreement with You. Not grudgingly, but willingly.

Worship is what You are worthy of receiving from every living soul in this universe. Even then it won’t be enough because You are so much greater than I can ever conceive.

I worship You in the splendor of holiness by doing what You tell me to do. You require faith with action, not mere words.

You are a Great and Mighty King who requires us to be set apart for Your service, waiting for Your command to do Your bidding in the earth.

Worship is an act of obedience, not just a sweet “I love You” with no action behind it. So help me to love and worship You like You want to be loved and worshipped and not how I think You should be.
