In the Beginning
When God created the world and the human being, everything exhibited beauty and perfection. Underground water nourished the plants and trees. Streams and lakes satisfied their thirst. Food hung from trees and on plants. Peace calmly floated through the atmosphere.
Unfortunately for man and woman life didn’t continue that way. Being deceived by the serpent, the woman ate what she shouldn’t have. Disobeying God, man ate also. When confronted by God man refused to take responsibility for his actions. He blamed the woman, who following suit blamed the serpent.

Mankind’s New Beginning
The actions of man and woman began a new beginning for the human race. No longer were they man and woman, who were one with each other and one with God. They became two individuals named Adam and Eve.
Expelled from the Garden of Eden exposed their punishment. Nothing easy happened on this side of the garden. Adam had to work hard to produce food from the ground. Eve’s labor pains increased during childbirth.
Adam’s and Eve’s children experienced the trauma caused by them. It traveled through their DNA. Cain deceived himself into thinking he could do whatever he wanted, and God would still be pleased with him. He carried the spirit of disobedience. God warned him concerning the sin lying at his door. He chose to ignore God and do his own thing. Sadly, the result of his anger and envy lead to his brother’s, Abel, death.
The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil Indicators
The normal story we always hear about the beginning of Genesis is the above story. It’s one of deception, disobedience, and expulsion. We hear how God punishes Adam and Eve and how it all goes downhill from there.
But what if that was just God’s way of being merciful?
Eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil caused a lot of problems for Adam and Eve. An immediate physical change took place inside their bodies. Their perfect cells began to break down and die. The shine around their bodies shattered to the point they saw each other’s nude physical body.
Their understanding opened up. The realization of the decision they made overwhelmed them. Shame ran rampant in their minds. Confusion sprung up. Indecision sprang to life.
They knew they lived in a peaceful space where life was easy. It was a protected, enclosed area. Food laid abundantly around them. Every species got along with each other. Clothing didn’t matter. Nothing lacked. They knew life was about to change.
The understanding that hurt them the most was the devastation of their relationship with YHWH Elohim. They got to speak to Him and enjoyed their fellowship with Him, their Father, on a regular basis.
As soon as they both ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, I believe they felt a ripping in their whole being. Their connection with God was disconnected. The pain they felt had to be horrible.
The Tree of Life After Effects
Now imagine Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Life after eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. What do you think would have happened to them?
Adam and Eve would live forever. Yet daily their bodies would decay. Eventually, they would look like the walking dead. They would live in perpetual shame, reliving that dreadful day when they ate from the wrong tree.
As we know, stress, shame, worry, anger and a host of other horrible feelings causes major diseases in the body. They would literally be a disease dying body that never dies. Pain upon pain would have been their constant friend.
God’s Love is Great
God loved Adam and Eve a great deal. He refused to allow them to suffer forever in this state. No loving Father will ever allow this. Nor did he destroy them and start over. That’s probably what the enemy wanted Him to do in the first place.
However, the enemy didn’t get to win this battle. Instead, God saved Adam and Eve by removing them from the Garden of Eden. Then he told the enemy, what he thought he destroyed will actually come back to destroy him.
God’s Love Always Succeed
This is the amazing story of the Garden of Eden. God’s love will always triumph over the enemy’s plan against us. Sometimes that may be a removal from this earth. Other times, that may be a healing that should have ended in death. It could be a broken relationship because the person wasn’t good for us.
There are a lot of ways God has shown us love, mercy, and compassion. We need to open our understanding to see how good He’s been to us, especially when we feel unworthy.
Let’s look back over our lives and give Him glory, honor, and thanksgiving for all the ways He’s helped us, even when we thought He was wrong or felt we should have received whatever it was we wanted.
Comment below if you know God loves us and put us first always, even if it involves punishment from our viewpoint.
