Sometimes in life we can forget about what’s going on around the world. We have our own problems, our own situations we have to deal with. We just don’t have time or the energy to worry about someone else’s problems. But today I would like you to take a few minutes and see what’s going on.
Police Stop Church Service in China, Detain Christians

This past Sunday hundreds of believers were arrested in China for trying to hold an outdoor service. They had no other choice because they claim police pressured landlords from renting space to them for worship services. Therefore, there was no building for them. So they decided to hold service at an outdoor venue. They posted the information on the internet so everyone knew, including the police.
When the day of service arrived some of Shouwang Church’s members were prevented from even leaving their homes to attend church services. Others were detained and taken away in buses to an undisclosed location.
The majority of those arrested were released within 24 hours, but there are some still in jail, including the pastor and his wife.

Soul Surfer’ Breaks Out in Top 5 at Box Office
This a movie based on a true story about a 13-year-old girl, Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm during a shark attack while surfing. As soon as she could she was back to surfing. She wrote a book a year later and a movie deal soon followed.
While the movie shows her struggling and getting to the point of giving up, Bethany says her faith never waivered. In fact, just the opposite happened. This is what she had to say about her situation. It is a direct quote from the article.
“I guess how it (faith) got me through is just knowing that God loves me and He has a purpose for my life and He wants good to come out of this,” Hamilton told The Gazette. “For most people they’re like, ‘Well, why would God allow that to happen? It’s such a horrible thing.’ But if you look at all the good that’s come out of it, just being able to encourage people and I’m still surfing and living my dream and reaching more people than I ever could of with two arms, it’s just a creative and different life than it could have been or chosen myself.”
